Abstract: | This Master’s thesis emphasizes the complexity of the matter of news media literacy and shows the connection between media environment, patterns of human behavior and decision-making processes, along with the outline of technological trends that affects media production. The purpose of the study is to explore differences and/or similarities related to news consumption and compare key issues of news media literacy between Korean, Czech, and American university students. To meet the goal, an online questionnaire was created and distributed among students of chosen nationalities. Questions discovered students’ approaches in accessing, filtering and evaluating news, their habits and opinions related to media and self-perceived level of news media literacy. From 246 valid responses, a statistical analysis was compiled. There is a high probability of the presence of several cognitive biases such as the third-person effect or illusory superiority among the sample questioned. Besides other results, students need to better understand main principles of social media algorithms and realize the consequences of personalized content. |

Z výsledků mimo jiné plyne potřeba, aby studenti lépe porozuměli hlavním principům algoritmů sociálních médií a uvědomili si důsledky personalizovaného obsahu. |
