The Position and Possibilities of Social Networks in Higher Education

This bachelor's thesis is dedicated to the issue of the position and possibilities of social networks in modern times in the field of higher education in the Czech Republic and in Russia. A comprehensive view of this issue is obtained from two main parts of the work - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, key terms related to social networks are defined, a historical overview of the most important social networks is described, the special features of their development in both countries and ethical issues related to social networks are presented. In the practical part, research is conducted using the questionnaire survey method, where respondents (originating from both countries) provide information about their experiences with social networks in studying, how it affects their performance and other important aspects related to the researched issue. The aim of this work is to compare the use of social networks by students for studying at universities in the Czech Republic and in Russia using the obtained information. Part of the goal is to answer the fundamental research questions, such as whether the use of social networks in education is similar in the two countries and whether the use of social networks in education impacts academic results. Through the analysis, comparison and interpretation of the obtained data, the author achieved interesting results, which are presented in the respective chapters and summarized in the conclusion.
